2012 - Update from Jim on
the performance w/ Poison
Sez
Jimmy in an email:
"I will
be singing with Poison on 5 songs at the concert after the Premier of
Rock of Ages tomorrow night (June 08). But, I am just a ghost singer -
and might be backstage and not visible. They are friends and I told
them I would help them out. I believe it's going to be a live ustream at 9:50
tomorrow night from Hollywood."
Might give it a peek to see
if Jimmy is really invisible. Note:
@bretmichaels tweeted more
information about when their show will air:

2012 - Some McG news in
dribs and drabs (but still cool we think)
As
we all know, Jim is a Berklee
College of Music graduate.
Some pretty successful and famous musicians have also
graduated from Berklee; such as Tracy Bonham, Jan Hammer,
Diana Krall, Abe Laboriel, Branford Marsalis, Pat Metheny, Steve Vai,
Joe Zawinul - to name a few. Google them if you wish, don't be lazy!
Let's also name a few pretty successful and famous Berklee drop outs
(just for good measure); such as Quincy Jones, Rivers Cuomo, John
Mayer, Al Di Meola and Mellisa Etheridge.
Here is the full list of Berklee College of Music alumni if you want to
knock yourself out. Jim baby is there because we just added him. (If
you look down on this, like, "Wikipedia? Psh! Big deal!" - that's your
right, but what would we do without the good ole Wiki?)
Anyway, recently Jimmy baby made another list and that is Berklee's own
Berklee Behind the Hits page (aka Alumni Pop Hits)
Sez there:
When it
comes to chart-topping hits, Berklee alumni are in the studio as
mixers, engineers, and producers. They're also penning the tunes and in
the touring bands, making and performing the music that's defining our
time. Here's a sampling of their latest work.
So check it out. Jim's is near the bottom of the page. Not too shabby
eh? Actually he has done pretty darn good. Steve Fekete too.
Also, a couple of days ago, da man proudly posted on twitter:
"...,
then off to reunite with @bretmichaels and Poison 4 a rehearsal for the
Rock Of Ages Premier!!"
We'll assume that Rock Of Ages is the new Tom Cruise movie released
in the US on June 14. Hopefully we will get more details about when and
where, provided that Jim is performing w/ Poison.
By the way, Rock Of Ages is also a triple bill tour (Poison,
Def Leppard and Lita Ford) happening in the US and Canada this summer.
Will Jim participate? We will keep our ear close to the ground for the
lowdown on that one.
Else, Jim has been holed up in his studio writing and producing for
himself and various artists. By the way, @Korbee ain't half bad, check them out!
Jim also shot a little music video ("super last minute", according to
him) for a ballad he recently wrote which is called "There's No Over
You". It has yet to see the light of the day so until then, the shot on
our front page
or this little bigger one in our Gallery will have to do.
Finally, check out Jim's page on the All Music
website.
We don't know who compiled it, if accurate and it's definitely not
complete, but still cool to have a look.
So that's it folks.
Wow, Jim update without mentioning Avril. Shit, we just did. But no
problem, we both love her music. |

April 09th, 2012 - Update from
Jim!
Sez
Jim (among other things): I will be joining most of
my old Rock Star buddies on The Voice. I have taken a gig as the only male
backing singer. This is interesting and fun for me because....it is the
first live job I have taken as a vocalist only (without any instrument)
- and it is not nearly as time consuming as being in the band - which
allows me to continue working on writing and producing. We (my
new partners and I) have also just signed our first artist to our
production co. Her name is Mikalah Gordon and she is AMAZING! We have
one song recorded, but have written 7 - and we will be working with her
on writing/production/etc. in the coming months. She is going to be
HUGE!! I am
trying to line it up to shoot a video for Get It Out within the next month - but with my
crazy schedule, it will be close. I've also been recording a few new
tracks (one of which I will probably release as another single in the
coming months) - my goal is to release it while I am still on The Voice.

February 18th, 2012 - Jim Sings Lead on Foster The People's song
Pumped Up Kicks in Kuala Lumpur!
The
last show of Avril Lavigne's The Black Star Tour
certainly was a prominent one for Jim. Last night in front of
10,000 people at the Stadium Merdeka in Kuala Lumpur, Jim sang lead on
Foster The People hit song Pumped Up Kicks. Here is
what Jim had to say about it: @JimmyMcGorman
"10thousand THANKS 2 @AvrilLavigne for
letting me sing lead @fosterthepeople Pumped Up Kicks in front of 10k
people 2nite! Amazing last show!" We
have the video of the performance, so go here to see it for yourself! |
